Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to allocating at least one wireless channel to an access point by a central entity [104]. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising: detecting at least two access points [for e.g. 102A, 102B] from a plurality of access points operating within at least one available wireless spectrum; prioritizing the at least two access points [for e.g. 102A, 102B] based on one of the increasing order and the decreasing order of a count of the one or more neighbouring access points; forming at least one group from the plurality of wireless channels and sequentially allocating at least one of the at least one unallocated wireless channel to each of the at least two access points [for e.g. 102A, 102B].
