Abstract
Reliable detection of input by a virtual-reality or augmented reality system is disclosed. Detection of input by the system may include displaying, via a display device, a stereoscopic rendering of a portion of a three-dimensional virtual environment including targets moving in predictable patterns. The rendering is updated based on movements tracked via a head tracker to show corresponding portions of the three-dimensional virtual environment along a gaze path through it. A first condition is detected if the gaze path corresponds to the movement one of the related targets along its pattern. Input is detected if, following detection of the first condition, it is detected that the gaze path also corresponds to the movement another of the targets along its pattern.
