Abstract
The presently claimed invention relates to methods of reducing the duration or severity of an inflammatory immune response. In embodiments, the method comprises administering poly (lactic acid) (PLA) particles, poly (glycolic acid) (PGA) particles, poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) particles, or combinations thereof; wherein said particles are modified to contain one or more carboxyl groups on the particle's surface. In embodiments, the particles do not comprise therapeutically active ingredients.
