A total flavonoid extract from Gynura formosana Kitam., comprising, in weight percent, 80-85% of rutin. A method for preparing the total flavonoid extract from Gynura formosana Kitam. comprises solvent extraction, complex enzymatic hydrolysis, and separation and purification by a macroporous resin.
