Abstract
A modular and decentralized architecture for building illuminated means of egress from a device level to a building system level wherein a plurality of communicatively networked building egress devices with processing capability coupled to sensing and output devices and governed by an artificial intelligence (AI) engine establish local device self-awareness that enhances building life safety performance while providing utility to other building disciplines.
