The present disclosure provides compounds useful as anesthetics, such as topical anesthetics, of general formula (I): wherein: The present disclosure further provides compositions comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of general formula (I), and methods of treating or preventing pain in a subject by administering (e.g., topically applying) such compositions to the subject.
