Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a signal that is transmitted by a base station with a modulation signature associated with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) or a repeater and redirected by the RIS or the repeater using modulation that reverses the modulation signature associated with the RIS or the repeater. The UE may decode the signal, wherein the signal is decodable by the UE based at least in part on the signal being redirected by the RIS or the repeater using the modulation that reverses the modulation signature associated with the RIS or the repeater.
