Abstract
A barrier system includes a substantially vertical structure representing an exterior surface of a home. The barrier system also includes a coating layer disposed over and circumscribing at least 80% of the substantially vertical structure. The coating layer is in the form of a band and the substantially vertical structure includes an upper region above the coating layer that is free of the coating layer. The coating layer has a height of at least 0.25 inches, has a dried film thickness of at least 5 mils, and has an average surface roughness (Ra) of less than 10 microns.
