Abstract
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive one or more reference signals associated with a downlink communication. The UE may transmit an indication of a preferred demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration to be used for the downlink communication, the preferred DMRS configuration based at least in part on the one or more reference signals and a transmission mode associated with the preferred DMRS configuration.
