Abstract
A seal includes a seal body and a temperature controller in thermal communication with the seal material. A method for controlling temperature of a seal including applying an energy source to the temperature controller, and generating a temperature difference in the temperature controller. A borehole system including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a seal tool disposed within or as part of the string.
