Abstract
A glycolic acid polymer is obtained from polycondensation reaction of a monomer mixture consisting of: (i) glycolic acid (GA); (ii) optionally, at least one hydroxyl acid having only one hydroxyl group and only one carboxylic acid group different from GA; (iii) at least one polyol comprising at least three hydroxyl groups and being free from carboxylic acid group; (iv) at least one aromatic diacid comprising two aromatic carboxylic acid groups and being free from hydroxyl groups; and (v) optionally at least one carboxylic acid having one carboxylic acid group and being free from hydroxyl group; which has an appropriate rheological profile so as to be used in combination with standard polyester resins for obtaining multi-layer containers having thin barrier layers.
