Abstract
A payment processing system can detect an attempted re-initiation of a payment transaction for the same purchase of an item or service. In some examples, the system compares initial transaction data against re-initiated transaction data to identify the attempted duplicated payment. Based on the identified attempted duplicated payment, initiating a payment deduplication phase by generating a potential payment duplication alert for presentation at the POS terminal device and/or in the user interface of a mobile device.
