Abstract

A composition having a pH in a range of 1 to 6, containing hydrogen peroxide, and one or more compounds selected from orthodiphenols, imidazolidin-2,4-diones, and salts thereof. The orthodiphenols have the following general structure: where R1, R2, and R3 are independently selected from H, OH, halogen, C1-C12 linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl, O—X, NO2, COOH, SO3H, aryl, and heteroaryl, and X is a C1-C12 linear or branched alkyl. The imidazolidin-2,4-diones have the following general structure: where R4, R5, and R6 are independently selected from H, OH, halogen, C1-C12 linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl, O—X, COOH, phenyl, diphenyl, ureyl, and X is a C1-C12 linear or branched alkyl.
