Abstract
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for guiding endless woven fabric belts such as are used on paper making machines. Specifically, the instant application teaches the use of a guide shower, which is disposed across the width of the endless belt, to provide the guiding action. The shower comprises a series of nozzles which are adapted to be directed at one edge or the other of the endless belt. Three separate embodiments are disclosed. In one of the embodiments, the shower pipe connecting the nozzles is divided into a left side and a right side. The nozzles on the left side are all directed at the left edge of the endless belt whereas the nozzles on the right side are directed at the right edge of the endless belt. In a second embodiment, two parallel shower pipes are disclosed, the nozzles of one of the shower pipes all being directed at the left edge of the endless belt, the nozzles of the other pipe all being directed at the right edge of the endless belt. In a third embodiment, a series of swivelling nozzles are mounted on the shower pipe.
