Abstract

A sealing material for the prevention of water-leakage used in, for example, waterproofed fabric and various building and construction materials is provided. The sealing material consists of (a) a water-insoluble partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of 35 to 65% by mole and a number average polymerization degree of 500 to 3,500, and (b) 5 to 100 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of said partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol, of a mixture of glycerin and the glyceryl ester of a carboxylic acid.
