Abstract
Method for achieving free radical initiated copolymerization of an addition monomer having pendant therefrom a strong donor group with an addition monomer having pendant therefrom a strong acceptor group. Copolymers prepared according to this method can be represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl; PA1 R' is hydrogen or methyl; PA1 R" is hydrogen or methyl; PA1 R'" is alkyl of 1-10 carbon atoms; PA1 R'.sup.v is selected from the group consisting of --NO.sub.2, halogen, --CN and --CF.sub.3 ; PA1 X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, alkyl or 1-4 carbon atoms and phenyl; PA1 Z is oxygen or dicyanomethylene; PA1 a and b can range from 0-4; and PA1 n and m can range from about 5 to about 95 percent. The polymeric compositions prepared according to this method are suitable for use in electrophotography either alone as the primary photoresponsive entity or in combination with other photoconductive materials.
