Abstract

A direct current motor is provided by a rotor provided with a plurality of permanent magnets, at least one fixed electromagnet slightly spaced from the rotor periphery and a magnetically operated reversing switch controlled by the permanent rotor magnets to excite an electromagnet to alternately attract and repel the permanent magnets. The switch may be controlled by magnets other than the rotor magnets, rotated synchronously with the rotor.
