Abstract

A camera for photographing information on microfilm comprises structure defining an image aperture, a lens system for projecting an image of the information to be photographed along an optical path through the image aperture, and a device for selectively clamping microfilm against the image aperture defining structure. The image aperture defining structure and the clamping device are mounted and restrained against lateral movement relative to the optical path. A carriage is movable relative to the image aperture defining structure, the lens system and the clamping device, and carries equipment for advancing microfilm between the image aperture defining structure and the clamping device. A photographic film handling apparatus wherein photographic film is positioned at a structure defining an image aperture comprises a film pressure plate having a cluster of air holes for an escape of air from a space between the film pressure plate and adjacent photographic film. The film pressure plate is mounted adjacent the aperture defining structure, and is actuated relative to the aperture defining structure.
