Abstract
A method for the separation of methane from a gaseous mixture containing methane and at least one of ethane and propane which comprises PA1 A. simultaneously passing said gaseous mixture and oxygen over a catalyst comprising platinum on an active carbon carrier; PA1 B. selectively oxidizing the ethane and propane in said gaseous mixture at a temperature of about 170.degree. C and PA1 C. recovering methane from said mixture.
