Abstract

New indole-2-carbaldehyde compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is lower alkyl PA1 R.sub.2 is hydrogen, halogen, or lower alkyl or alkoxy, PA1 With the proviso that when R.sub.2 is halogen or ethyl, PA1 R.sub.1 can also be hydrogen And the physiologically compatible derivatives thereof, are outstandingly effective in lowering excessive blood sugar in mammals.
