Abstract
Alkene disproportionation catalyst which has become deactivated by the deposition of organic material is regenerated by first contacting the catalyst with low molecular weight alkenes at an elevated temperature to partially remove a portion of the deposited organic material and then contacting the catalyst with an oxygen containing gas at temperatures below 650.degree. C. in order to remove substantially all of the remaining deposited organic material.
