Abstract
An aqueous composition useful for forming primer coatings for adhering high molecular weight emulsion polymerized acrylic polymers to metallic substrates is disclosed. The aqueous dispersion comprises a mixture of: PA1 (A) a high molecular weight water-insoluble acrylic latex; PA1 (B) a carboxylated polyether formed from reacting and then hydrolyzing PA2 (1) a polyepoxide having an epoxide equivalency greater than 1, PA2 (2) a compound containing at least one phenolic hydroxyl group and containing at least one group hydrolyzable to a carboxyl group.
