Abstract
A complex alkali metal-metal-silicate material that is useful as a floc weighting agent is made by continuously bringing together concentrated solutions of alkali metal silicate and of a metal salt and substantially immediately mixing them in a vessel under high shear with a rotor. The product contains about 30% by weight of silicate, measured as SiO.sub.2, and is insoluble in hydrochloric acid.
