Abstract
A polysaccharide-containing adsorbent for the removal of heavy metal ions from an effluent which adsorbent has been manufactured from PA1 (1) a polysaccharide-containing material, PA1 (2) a basic, nitrogen-containing polymer which can be acylated, PA1 (3) a crosslinking compound, which is different from component (4), containing at least two reactive substituents and, optionally, PA1 (4) an aliphatic or araliphatic carboxylic acid containing a mobile substituent or a multiple bond which is capable of undergoing addition.
