Abstract

Uniformly dyed water-swellable cellulosic fibers which are fast to washing, dry-cleaning, sublimation and light and have been produced by contacting water-swellable cellulose fibers sequentially or concomitantly with water, ethylene glycol or a derivative thereof and, while the fibers are still swollen, an essentially water-insoluble dye of the formula ##STR1## in which D is the radical of a diazo component; PA1 R is hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.7 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl bearing methyl as a substituent; PA1 X is cyano, carbamoyl or substituted carbamoyl; PA1 R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical; PA1 R.sup.2 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical; PA1 R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently of one another have the same meanings as R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 ; and PA1 R.sup.1 --n--r.sup.2 and R.sup.3 --N--R.sup.4 independently of one another are saturated heterocyclic radicals.
