Abstract

Non-diffusible silver halide development inhibitor releasing thioether compounds in which a color development does not give rise to a substantial formation of permanent dyes are 1,2,5'-.DELTA..sup.2 -thiadiazoline-1,1-dioxide derivatives of the following formula or its tautomeric (.DELTA..sup.3) form: ##STR1## in which X represents an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group such that when it is split off together with the sulphur atom of the thioether bridge, it forms a diffusible mercapto compound capable of inhibiting the development of the silver halide; PA1 R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group and PA1 R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic group or preferably acyl.
