Abstract

Hair-care compositions in the form of aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous alcoholic solutions, creams, gels, emulsions, or of aerosols which optionally contain a propellant are provided which contain at least one polymeric quaternary ammonium salt which contains cationic units of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same or different and represent alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl, or (R.sub.1 and R.sub.2) and/or (R.sub.3 and R.sub.4) together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic ring containing 3 to 6 ring members, PA1 A.sub.1 represents an optionally substituted alkylene, cycloalkylene or aralkylene bridging group and A.sub.2 is a group of the formula ##STR2## The compositions are especially useful as shampoos.
