Abstract

Novel 5-(substituted phenyl)-oxazolidinones and their sulfur analogs of Formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is optionally substituted lower alkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl; PA1 R.sub.2 is hydrogen, optionally substituted lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted aralkyl, alkenyl or a heterocyclic group; PA1 R.sub.3 is hydrogen, optionally substituted lower alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted aralkyl, or optionally substituted acyl; PA1 R.sub.4 is hydrogen or optionally substituted lower alkyl; PA1 R.sub.5 is hydrogen or optionally substituted lower alkyl or optionally substituted lower alkoxycarbonyl; and PA1 X is oxygen or sulfur, have valuable pharmacological effects.
