Abstract
What is disclosed are 1,2,6,7-tetrahydroindolo[1,7-ab] [1,5]benzodiazepines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, loweralkyl, or cycloalkyl; ##STR2## n is an integer from 1 to 3; R.sub.1 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, or phenylloweralkyl; PA1 R.sub.2 is hydrogen or loweralkyl; PA1 or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be taken together with the nitrogen to which they are attached to form pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino, or phenylpiperazinyl; and PA1 R.sub.3 is loweralkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds are useful as antidepressants and as analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents.
