Abstract
A nonaqueous secondary cell having a positive electrode and a negative electrode at least one of which contains a layered chalcogenide having the nominal atom composition Li.sub.y MX.sub.2 where M is at least one member selected from the group consisting of V and Ti, X is at least one member selected from the group consisting of S and Se and y is greater than or equal to 1.0 and less than or equal to 2.0.
