Abstract

A multiple-step process for the preparation of 6-aryl-4H-s-triazolo-[3,4-c]-thieno-[2,3-e]-1,4-diazepines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 2 carbon atoms; PA1 R.sub.2 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, straight or branched alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, .omega.-hydroxyalkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a 5- or 6-membered heterocycle comprising an oxygen sulfur or nitrogen atom, where the nitrogen atom may optionally be substituted by lower alkyl; and PA1 R.sub.3 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, or bromine; and optionally acid addition salts thereof, starting from compounds of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 have the meanings defined above, and PA1 X is halogen, amino or acyloxy.
