Abstract

A method of driving or permeating a powdery material into a porous material such as an open-cell cellular material or a fabric, of a type having an open-celled structure, that is, having interconnected cells. Permeation of the powdery material into the porous material is carried out by spreading a mass of powdery particles on one surface of the porous material and applying vibrations to the powdery particles through a vibrating element in contact with the particles so as to cause the particles to be uniformly distributed in the porous material. The frequency and amplitude of the vibrations are selected so as to minimize scattering of the powdery material, and are within the ranges of 50 to 50,000 Hz, and 50 to 1,500 .mu.m, respectively.
