Abstract

N-(heterocyclicaminocarbonyl)arylsulfonamides and thienylsulfonamides in which the heterocyclic radical is substituted in one position by a methyl or methoxy radical and in another by a substituted alkoxy or alkylthio radical; e.g., N-[[4-(2-methoxyethoxy)-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl]aminocarbonyl]-2-nitrobenze nesulfonamide and N-[[4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl]aminocarbonyl]-2-nitr obenzenesulfonamide; are useful for the regulation of plant growth and as pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicides.
