Abstract
A high strength silicon nitride sintered material having a modulus of rupture of about 100 kg/mm.sup.2 or more, which is prepared by sintering a mixture of about 88.7 to 98% by weight of silicon nitride (Si.sub.3 N.sub.4) and the balance a sintering aid comprising Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 and Ti present in the following proportions based on weight: ##EQU1##
