Abstract
The invention relates to a process for making halogenomethylphosphinic acid halides of the general formula: EQU XCH.sub.2 (R)P(O)X in which R stands for an alkyl, halogenoalkyl, aralkyl, halogenoaralkyl, aryl or halogenoaryl group with up to 18 carbon atoms and X stands for a halogen atom. The compounds are made by reacting an organyldihalogenophosphane of the general formula: ##STR1## in which R and X have the meanings given above, with trioxane in the presence of a Lewis acid or protonic acid as a catalyst, the reaction being effected at temperatures of 80.degree. to 250.degree. C.
