Abstract

An illuminating device provided adjacent the liquid crystal display device of an electronic timepiece having a light emitting element composed of tritium (.sup.3 H). The light emitting element is sealed with a resin without hydrogen atoms, such as chlorotrifluoroethylene resin or polytetrafluoroethylene for preventing the leakage of 3H of tritium.
