Abstract
Synthetic fibers such as polyethylene terephthalate and nylon are treated with certain polydiorganosiloxanes to provide improved properties such as "hand" and water repellency. When the polydiorganosiloxanes contain approximately two silicon-bonded amino radicals of the formula --R'(NHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.a NHR", such as --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NH.sub.2, they provide a crosslinked siloxane on the surface of the treated fiber, when heated, which does not diminish the fire-retardancy rating of the fibers.
