Abstract
Couplers having the general formula (I): ##STR1## or the acid salts thereof in which formula R is either PA2 (a) hydrogen or PA2 (b) a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or PA2 (c) a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 hydroxyalkyl, and PA1 Z is either PA2 (a) hydroxyalkyl, or PA2 (b) alkoxyalkyl in which the alkoxy group contains 1 to 2 carbon atoms, or PA2 (c) mesylaminoalkyl, or PA2 (d) acetylaminoalkyl, or PA2 (e) ureidoalkyl, or PA2 (f) carbethoxyaminoalkyl PA2 the alkyl groups in the radicals constituting Z comprising from 2 to 3 carbon atoms and PA2 Z is not hydroxyethyl when R is hydrogen. These couplers form dyeing compositions when mixed with an oxidation base consisting of a paraphenylenediamine having the general formula: ##STR2##
