Abstract

Manufacture of 4-substituted oxazolinone-(5) compounds, which are intermediates for .alpha.-substituted aminoacids, by alkylation of 2-substituted or 3,4-disubstituted oxozolinone-(5) compounds in an aprotic solvent in the presence of a tertiary amine.
