Abstract

Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is alkylene, optionally substituted by hydroxy, methoxy or amino; PA1 R.sup.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 alkyl; PA1 R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, or C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups; PA1 R.sup.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, or C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups; PA1 R.sup.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 -alkyl, or C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups; PA1 R.sup.5 is C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups; PA1 R.sup.6 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 -alkyl or C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups; and PA1 R.sup.7 is C.sub.2-4 -alkyl substituted by 1-3 OH groups, PA1 or a salt thereof with an acid PA1 are useful as opaquing agents in x-ray contrast media.
