Abstract

This invention relates to improved catalysts for the polymerization of propylene and higher .alpha.-olefin in a high temperature solution process comprising (1) a beta amino carboxylic ester, (2) an aluminum trialkyl and (3) a transition metal halide. More particularly, this invention relates to catalysts for the catalytic high temperature solution polymerization of .alpha.-mono-olefins containing at least 3 carbon atoms to form solid, highly crystalline polymers. More specifically, the catalysts of the present invention produce polypropylene in a high temperature solution process at very high polymer to catalysts yields.
