Abstract
An anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pruritic compositions for topical application is made by mixing an aqueous alcoholic solution of methanol or camphor with sufficient water soluble carboxyvinyl polymer to give a viscosity of 2,000 to 20,000 centipoises at 20.degree. C., sufficient basic agent, such as an amine, to neutralize the carboxyl groups to a pH of 6.0-7.5 and a small amount of sodium chloride.
