Abstract

The invention provides a protective shield device for a brake having a rotating braking element in the form of a ring or drum. The shield comprises a plate which extends opposite the face of at least a part of the rotating element of the brake, and a sheet part which extends the plate by running out from the plane of the latter to penetrate into the internal space of the rotating element in the immediate vicinity thereof. This provides an ejector for the brake which prevents solid particles such as grit entering the brake parts. The invention is particularly applicable to brakes designed for use in motor vehicles.
