Abstract
An aqueous dispersion of polyester resin which comprises PA1 (A) a crystalline polyester having a melting point of 70.degree. to 200.degree. C. and containing 0.5 to 10% by mole of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having a metal sulfonate group as the polycarboxylic acid component, PA1 (B) a non-crystalline polyester having a softening point of 40.degree. to 200.degree. C. and containing 0.5 to 10% by mole of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having a metal sulfonate group as the polycarboxylic acid component, PA1 (C) a water-soluble organic compound having a boiling point of 60.degree. to 200.degree. C., and PA1 (D) water, said components (A), (B), (C) and (D) being incorporated in the following weight ratio: EQU A/B=0-95/100-5 (1) EQU A+B/C/D=10-70/2-40/20-88 (2) EQU 0.02.ltoreq.C/C+D.ltoreq.0.66. (3) The aqueous dispersion of this invention has excellent dispersibility in water and can give a coating layer having excellent water resistance and weatherability and hence is useful for preparation of various laminated products, coating compositions, aqueous printing ink, aqueous binder for coating and surface treating agent for giving drip-proof.
