Abstract
An improved process for producing sulfuric acid semiesters of the formula: EQU NH.sub.2 --A--SO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OSO.sub.3 H).sub.n wherein A is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic or heterocyclic group, and n is an integer of 1 or 2, which are important as intermediate of the vinylsulfonic reactive dyes, said process comprising reacting a compound of the formula: EQU B--NH--A--SO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH).sub.n or EQU CO(NH--A--SO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 wherein A and n are as defined above, and B is hydrogen or a group capable of being hydrolyzed by an acid, with an acid.
