Abstract

A halogenomethylsulphonylphenyl-phthalamic acid of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents a trihalogenomethylsulphonyl or dihalogenomethylsulphonyl group, PA1 R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, halogen or a lower alkyl or lower alkoxy group and PA1 R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, halogen or a lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylmercapto or aroxy group, which group may be optionally substituted, or a salt thereof which possesses bactericidal, especially plant bactericidal, activity.
