Abstract
A tracking control system is used in a magnetic reproducing apparatus which comprises a rotary magnetic head for successively reproducing recorded signals from parallel tracks existing obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction of a magnetic tape. The tracking system comprises a head swinging mechanism for varying the height position of the rotary magnetic head, and swinging the tracing position of the rotary magnetic head with respect to the track of the magnetic tape in the width direction of the track, a head swinging voltage generating circuit for generating a head swinging voltage, one or a plurality of memories for sampling and memorizing a voltage which is to be supplied to the head swinging means, at a point in time corresponding to when the rotary magnetic head passes one or a plurality of predetermined relative tracing positions respective of the magnetic tape, a level detecting circuit for detecting the level of a signal reproduced by the rotary magnetic head at a point in time identical to that of the above, a maximum level detecting circuit for detecting whether the level detected by the level detecting circuit has reached a maximum, a control circuit for ena…
