Abstract
A magnetic recording medium is prepared by forming a thin magnetic layer having the formulation EQU (Co.sub.100-x Ni.sub.x).sub.100-y P.sub.y wherein x is in a range of 0 to 35 wt. % and y is in a range of more than 0 wt. % to 6 wt. % on a non-magnetic substrate by a sputtering method.
