Abstract
The coating composition useful as the exterior finish on automobiles and trucks contains about 40-60% by weight of a binder of film-forming constituents and 30-60% by weight of a non-aqueous carrier; the binder is an film-forming resin containing reactive hydroxyl, carboxyl, amide, glycidyl groups or any mixture of such groups and an alkylated melamine formaldehyde crosslinking resin, in addition the composition contains about 0.1-10% by weight, based on the weight of the binder, of a rheology control additive of PA1 (1) colloidal silica and PA1 (2) a polyethylene glycol having a weight average molecular weight of about 800-400,000.
