Abstract
The present invention provides an improved process for preparing a polyolefin cross-linked by silane linkage by contacting a polyolefin modified with silane with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, the improvement comprising said polyolefin modified with silane being a reaction product produced by reacting an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer having a density of from 0.850 to 0.910 with a silane compound in the presence of a free radical generating agent, said ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer being prepared by copolymerizing ethylene with an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 12 carbon atoms in a vapor phase with substantially no solvent present and in the presence of a catalyst comprising an organoaluminum compound and a solid substance containing magnesium, and a metal selected from the group consisting of titanium, vanadium and mixture thereof.
